Cork is proud to contribute to various charitable organizations in Calgary and the surrounding areas, being active and involved is a big part of who we are, and how we try to stay involved with our customers. From Fundraiser to silent auctions, below is a “taste” of charities and foundations we support:
Dogs With Wings Foundation
A registered charity that provides Guide, Service and Assistance Dogs to Albertans with disabilities. More specifically, our stores have ongoing donations for “A Dog for Alex”, a 6-year-old boy with autism who is on the wait list to receive an assistance dog. In 2009, CORK helped raise over $10,000.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is committed to finding cures for leukemia and related diseases and improving the lives of those affected by these diseases. CORK held an “Evening of Red and White” Fundraiser that raised approximately $2000 for the organization.
Brown Bagging it For Calgary’s Kids
Our newest charity for 2010, Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK) was established as a lunch program in 1990. Lunches were provided to homeless children and youth in Calgary who did not have access to food and were disinclined to visit centres that focused on adult homelessness.
